FOUNTAIN CITY, WI (February 07, 2013) – MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY is happy to announce the official release of the 2013 rules package for "The Elmer's Auto Salvage M.T.S. Pure Stock" division. "We have had several rule changes in mind for 2013", said MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY owner Bob Timm, "Our goals with the latest updates were to maintain affordability while addressing those issues our drivers had brought up during our innagural season of Pure Stock racing in 2012."

Timm went on to explain, "We also wanted to make a few adjustments that would allow Pure Stock drivers from other tracks to come to MISSISSIPPI THUNDER, race with us on occasion, fit within the M.T.S. rules while remaining on an equal footing with our regular weekly competitors." After meetings with speedway tech officials, MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY management feels that they've introduced rule alterations which are in the best best interest for continued growth of the class in 2013 at MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY.

COMMENT FROM MTS CONCERNING MARCH 27th RULE CHANGE: "Attention Pure Stock Drivers: After meeting with our tech team and discussing the issues with some of our Pure Stock drivers we have decided reverse our decision regarding the use of Power Glide transmissions. We will be allowing Stock Power Glides in pure stocks for 2013. However, they will be subject to the transmission claim rule of $250.00 and we will be doing regular inspections of all transmissions to ensure the use of only stock components. We will also be evaluating the Power Glide performance on the track and we may elect to impose a weight penalty if it appears to create a competative advantage for those running them. This will be the rule for 2013 with no further changes with exception of a possible weight penalty. The intent of this class is to create an affordable class that allows anyone to be able to compete. What actually saves money and makes the class more affordable is arguable and can be a bit of a grey area. In this case, making half our cars go out and get a different transmission does not seem to be in the best interest of the class. One of our tech guys is a very experienced transmission guy, particularly in Power Glides! We will ensure proper teching to provide an even playing field for all.
