FOUNTAIN CITY, WI (Friday July 11, 2014) – Race fans were treated to a great thank-you from MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY Friday night as
"Fan Appreciation Night" welcomed one and all to shrug off the rainy blues that had enveloped the area through the previous week and enjoy some
great fast and furious Friday night family-friendly fun! Those fans who accepted the invitation from the West-Central Wisconsin dirt track went
home later that evening thoroughly entertained!
An evening filled with repeat winners was high-lighted by intense battles for position - some decided by mere inches beneath the waiving
checkered flags - throughout each field.
The top billing Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modifieds put on a show that kept fans on the edges of their seats as 2012 Track Champion Lucas Schott
beat 2013 Track Champion Josh Angst and 2011 Track Champion, and second heat race winner Bob Timm to the front of the field early, and stayed there
throughout the remainder of the "Fan Appreciation 25" to collect the feature win.
Timm, who started outside the second row, slowly back-slid through the field before bowing out of the race after fifteen circuits with mechanical
troubles on his #49. Angst was actually able to lead the opening four laps before Schott relieved him of the burden and then built up a nearly
three second advantage on his way to the checkered flag.
"Yeah, I used the beginning of the race to work the traffic and try some different lines", commented Schott in Victory Lane after the win, "then
after I got out front I could run where I wanted. Car was good, track was good . . . it was a good race."
Angst briefly lost second position around the mid point of the feature as 2009 Track Champion John Doelle, enjoying an inspired evening took over
second place for a three-lap stint just past the crossed flags. Angst was able to reclaim second, relegating Doelle to settle for a strong third
MYERS BACK FOR SECONDS
Curt Myers turned his third visit to MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY into his second successful jouney - earning a 'clean sweep' of the evening
by winning both the opening first heat race, and then zipping to the front of the field to collect the feature win and the $400 Coordinated Business
Systems winner's bonus, which was added onto the regularly winners pay from the evening's posted purse.
"You know, it takes a lot of work to get a track into this nice of shape after the weather we've been having", complimented Myers in Victory Lane
after the feature win, "Thank you to the track crews hard work, and thank you to Coordinated Business Systems for the extra bonus money."
Former Track Champions Jeff Brauer (2010 & 2011), Tommy Richards (2012 & 2013) and Gary Wiersgalla (2009) thrilled the crowd with a close battle
behind Myers, with Brauer and Richards finishing second and third respectively.
SORENSON CLAIMS ANOTHER WIN FOR 'THE YOUTH BRIGADE'
Dustin Sorenson put another notch into the belt of the "younger generation" by adding his name to the list of drivers who've won a feature in an
upper division on "The Big 1/3-Mile" MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY by stealing the lead away from one of the current hot shoes in the Black
Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mod ranks and racing away to his first feature win.
After battling back and forth with several different drivers for second and third place, Sorenson snuck past leader Jon Van Minsel on lap 12, and
lead the remainder of the 18-lap main to claim the feature win at only 13 years of age!
Former Track Champion Ben Anderson raced up to a second place finish with Van Minsel slipping to fourth behind Jacob Bleess, who finished third.
CISEWSKI, MANN & RICHARDS ALSO WINNERS
Bob Cisewski enjoyed a picture perfect Friday; after spending a majority of the day celebrating his 22nd anniversary with wife Jenny Cisewski, the
Winona Racer raced his way to the front of the field to win the evening's 600 Mod feature event - using his moment on the microphone in Victory Lane
to express his thanks and love to his wife on their anniversary.
Shaun Mann battled side-by-side with fellow Jailhouse Saloon racer Fred Prudoehl for almost the entire WISSOTA Street Stock feature before claiming
the top spot for himself. Prudoehl finished second just ahead of Danny Richards.
George Richards endured a wild and controversial Elmer's Auto Salvage MTS Pure Stock feature - which saw defending Track Champion Bobby Fort, Jr.
Disqualified for dangerous driving - to claim another feature win. Lee Hager advanced to second, with Elizabeth Loberg grabbing her first top-three
Pure Stock finish of her rookie season behind the wheel of her #15!
Zach Brom collected another Sunshine Sanitation A Mini Mod feature on "The Lightning Speedway" with Braden Brauer winning the Sunshine Sanitation
B Mini Mod feature.
Racing resumes next Friday night July 18th with another great night of action at MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY. The first green flag is
