JAKE TIMM GRABS FEATURE WIN DURING BIG-MONEY NIGHT AT MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY!

Bounties & Bonuses rule as Hofer, Hale, Provinzino, Link, Severtson Visit Victory Lane

FOUNTAIN CITY, WI (Friday June 9, 2017) – Black Horse Bar & Grill / Winona Sign & Designs Night produced action and excitement at MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY Friday evening!

With Erik Kanz riding a three-win streak in the Black Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mod Division, and Lance Hofer enjoying an unbeaten streak - $100 bonuses were placed on each driver, awarded to the racer who could break those streaks with a feature win. In return, sponsors of Kanz and Hofer made a return bonus offer of $100 and $200 respectively if they could keep their streaks going!

At the same time, the redbox+ 600 Mods were racing for more than double the money in a $700-to-win event offered by The Black Horse and Winona Student Homes.

And while all this money was floating around, Jake "The Snake" Timm stepped his efforts up and won the Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modified feature.

TIMM SLIDES TO THE FRONT TO WIN RIVERCITY MANUFACTURING USRA MODIFIED FEATURE

The #99 of three-time, and defending, Track Champion Josh Angst stepped out front at the drop of the green flag to start the Black Horse / Winona Signs 25-Lap Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modified feature. Jumping from an inside third row starting spot, #49 Jake Timm gave chase.

Timm reeled in Angst and began challenging for the lead. What followed was a race fans delight with lap after lap of give-and-go for the lead between the two.

Timm and Angst swapped the lead via "slide jobs" at both ends of the speedway throughout the battle that lasted a handful of laps until Timm finally took the lead for good and raced away to capture the feature win!

"The fast way around (turns) 1 & 2 was definitely way up at the top of the high banks," explained Timm in Victory Lane, "over here in turns 3 & 4 it was really a challenge. Out front, you're kind of a sitting duck, so every lap I was trying to find a better line through 3 & 4."

Angst finished 2nd followed by Brad Waits in 3rd while Jacob Bleess and Keith Foss completed the top-5 at the checkered flag.

HOFER FENDS OFF '$100 BOUNTY' TO WIN ANOTHER CENTERVILLE WELDING & REPAIR USRA LATE MODELS PRESENTED BY BIG TOY STORAGE FEATURE

After 4 straight feature wins MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY put a good natured $100 Bounty on Lance Hofer - payable to anyone other than Hofer who won the feature! In return, one of Hofer's sponsors (Hossfeld Manufacturing) responded via FaceBook with a $200 counter-bonus if Hofer could win anyways.

First-time MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY visitor Johnny Emerson (#42) jumped out front at the beginning of the 20-lap feature until Hofer's #11 took the lead on lap 4. Hofer was never challenged again racing to the feature win.

The #QQ of Tony Bahr worked the field to a second plage finish followed by Emerson, Shaun Mann, & 2016 MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY Track Champion Justin Sass in fifth.

Hofer also collected a gift card from Black Horse Bar & Grill and a $50 bonus from Winona Signs & Designs

HALE GRABS $100 BOUNTY BONUS BY BEATING KANZ IN BLACK HORSE BAR & GRILL USRA B-MODS

Similar to Hofer's situation in the Late Models, after 3 straight feature wins MTS put another good natured $100 Bounty placed on Erik Kanz - payable to anyone other than Kanz who won the Black Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mod feature! One of Kanz' sponsors responded via social media with a $100 counter-bonus of their own if Kanz could win.

With four Heat races in the packed class, the action was non-stop! Alex Williamson (#15W), Parker Hale (#28), Jon VanMinsel (#1), & Nick Wagner (#19) lead the fields to win their respective heat races - setting high expectations for the feature later in the evening.

2-time USRA National Champion Brandon Hare (#56H) jumped out to the lead on the opening lap of the 18-lap feature. 2015 Track Champion Parker Hale zipped past on the second lap and lead the remainder of the 27-car field.

While the battle raged on up front, the rest of the field seemed to remain packed together just behind the top-8! The huge pack racing created an enless display of fierce yet clean racing throughout!

JT Wasmund (#51W), Hare, Kanz (#23K), Ryan Olson (#21), Taylor Skauge (#32), Williamson, & Wagner battled up front in some intense competition right behind Hale.

Out front, though, Hale held off all challengers for the feature win & $100 Bonus

Kanz, Hare, Williamson, & Wasmund completed the top-5 at the waiving checkered flag.

Hale also collected a gift card from Black Horse Bar & Grill and a $50 bonus from Winona Signs & Designs

LINK GRABS ANOTHER JAILHOUSE SALOON USRA HOBBY STOCK FEATURE WIN

"Crazy Phil from Centerville" (Phil Wernet) & Kevin Hager (#94) battled up front through the opening laps of the USRA Hobby Stock feature with Brady Link (#29) & Steve Dwyer (#7) joining the battle around lap 5.

Wernet slipped out of the top spot when first Hager, then Dwyer, then Link worked past. Link battled Hager for the lead the entire second half of the feature before solidifying his hold on the top spot nearing the end.

Link won the feature, followed by Hager in 2nd, Dwyer 3rd, Steve Holthaus (#70) 4th, & Wernet 5th.

Link also collected a gift card from Black Horse Bar & Grill and a $50 bonus from Winona Signs & Designs

JOE PROVO" WINS $700 REDBOX+ 600 MODIFIED FEATURE

Joe Provinzion (#89) won the $700-to-win special by Black Horse Bar & Grill redbox+ 600 Mod feature.

"I had actually missed the schedule," explained Chanhassen, MN racer Provinzino in victory Lane with a grin, "I didn't even know about this special until last night. It was like a last minute decision to get the car ready and get down here tonight. A big thank you to Bob (Timm) and the crew here at MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY for the great facility and racing surface."

8-car pile-up on the opening lap sent three cars into spectacular barrel rolls at the end of the back straight away and into turn three. All drivers were OK in that incident.

Greg Wohletz (#32) raced to a competetive 2nd place finish, behind Provinzino with Cody Maier (#19) 3rd, Bruce Schmitt (#80) 4th, & Bryan Molitor (#27M) 5th.

Provinzino also collected a gift card from Black Horse Bar & Grill and a $50 bonus from Winona Signs & Designs

SEVERTSON RESUMES STRANGLE HOLD ON HARMSTON TRUCKING MTS HORNETS

John Severtson won the Harmston Trucking MTS Hornet feature - collecting a gift card from Black Horse Bar & Grill and a $50 bonus from Winona Signs & Designs.

Howard Harmston (#777) finished 2nd with Jason Bauer (#14B) 3rd.

KRAUSE & BOLAND WIN SUNSHINE REFUSE JR & SR SLINGSHOT GREAT LAKES REGIONAL FEATURES ON THE LIGHTNING SPEEDWAY

The #01 of Trevor Krause topped the Sunshine Refuse JR Slingshot feature while Brady Boland's #88B was class of the field in the SR Slingshot division!

Next action at MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY is the 1st Annual Steamboat Days Race For A Cause - Presented by MILLER INGENUITY. Admission to this special event is ABSOLUTELY FREE with a 2017 Steamboat Days button. If you do not yet have a 2017 Steamboat Days button, they will be available for sale at the front gate.
