FOUNTAIN CITY, WI (Friday April 26th, 2019) After what seemed like an endless wintry off-season, racers and race fans alike welcomed back the roar of racing engines with the 11th Annual Season Opener at MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY! With snow in the forecast for Saturday, the atmosphere in the grandstands and pits was one of ecstatic winning . . . everyone was a winner, because opening night was going to beat Mother Nature!

By the time that final checkered flag had waived, everyone was all smiles compliments of heated on-track action leading up to the season's first time visitors to Victory Lane. From Adam Hensel and Taylor Skauge making it an all-LDR-Modified night in Victory Lane, to Kyle Jumbeck getting a workout to become the first-ever 600 Mod feature winner on The LIGHTNING SPEEDWAY the winners were celebrated!

Not to be over-shadowed by the big night's of Hensel, Skauge & Jumbeck, Triton Krause showed that, despite his young age, he may be the next big threat driving his #34 Jailhouse Saloon USRA Hobby Stock into Victory Lane for the second time! Seth Scholl, Lance Hofer and Gavin Bartel also enjoyed season opener feature wins!

HENSEL TAKES LDR #44 TO VICTORY LANE

Adam Hensel seems to have a positive outlook on every situation; "I had the best seat at the track the first half of the feature watching Jake Timm, Cory Crapser & Josh Angst battle for the lead," Hensel commented, "but, it gave me time to try some lines and see what was working."

Apparently, things started REALLY working right around lap 14 when Hensel shot to the front after a caution when race leader Jake Timm cut down a right rear tire.

Hensel moved to the lead, bringing Angst with him, to second, while first heat-race winner Crapser faded to an eventual fifth place finish behind hard-charging former MTS Track Champion Lucas Schott and Dustin Sorensen.

TRITON KRAUSE, USRA HOBBY STOCK FEATURE WINNER

You could feel it from the first day he strapped his 13-year old self behind the wheel of a USRA Hobby Stock . . . Triton Krause was going to be a threat. In 2018 Krause became the youngest feature winner ever on The Big 1/3-Mile, Friday night Krause grabbed his second feature win to start the 2019 season!

Moving forward from his fifth place starting spot, Krause made his jump to the front with a power move, splitting the competition right down the middle on the back straight away. Added the feature win to his second heat race win, earlier in the evening, gave the young Fountain City racer a clean-sweep perfect evening!

Nick Schwebach, Levi Sand and Mike James followed Krause across the line at the finish!

HOFER REMAINS UNBEATEN SINCE 2017

It's almost mind boggling . . . Lance Hofer hasn't NOT WON a feature at MTS since 2017!!

His streak continued Friday night, starting 2019 off with yet another feature win.

Hofer, Lucas Peterson & 2016 MTS Track Champion Just Sass were the top-3 finishers at the checkered flag.

JUMBECK GRABS FIRST EVER 600 MOD WIN ON LIGHTNING SPEEDWAY

The redbox+ 600 Mod division is one of the big changes for 2019 . . . moving from the high-speed "Big 1/3-Mile" down the reconfigured, lengthened & widened LIGHTNING SPEEDWAY was a drastic change that caught everyone off guard for night number 1.

Every driver climbing from their 600 Mods was covered in sweat - but grinning!

"Woo! THAT was a workout!" laughed Kyle Jumbeck, after winning the first ever 600 Mod feature on the LIGHTNING SPEEDWAY, "No changes needed for the car . . . but, I'm gonna need a new workout routine to survive this season!"

Heat race winner Brad Kramer followed Jumbeck across the line for a second place finish ahead of 600 Mod new-comer Dan Nissalke.

SKAUGE SNAGS SECOND MTS B-MOD WIN

Soft-spoken Taylor Skauge proved once again, that it's not a loud personality that takes one to Victory Lane; starting the 2019 Black Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mod season with the second feature win of his MTS career.

Kadden Kath and Alex Williamson completed the top-3.

SCHOLL STARTS 2019 WITH HORNET FEATURE WIN

Seth Scholl grabbed the first feature of the newly branded Seth's Auto Repair MTS Hornet division.

BARTEL WITH SLINGSHOT WIN ON THE LIGHTNING SPEEDWAY

Gavin Bartel won the very first feature of the 2019 season with a late-race pass for the lead, and eventually the win, in the Sunshine Refuse Slingshot division on The LIGHTNING SPEEDWAY!

MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY presents the second round of the 2019 season next Friday night, May 3rd!

Green flag competition begins at 6:45 pm with the Sunshine Refuse Slingshot heat races on The LIGHTNING SPEEDWAY.

Action on "The Big 1/3 Mile" resumes immediately following the 7 PM Opening Ceremonies with green flag laps provided by the Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modifieds, Centerville Welding & Repair USRA Limited Late Models presented by Big Toy Storage, Black Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mods, Jailhouse Saloon USRA Hobby Stocks, REDBOX+ 600 Mods, & Seth's Auto Repair MTS Hornets!
